Trustees
The Role of Trustee
Article IV, Section 5. Trustees shall serve their respective Areas by attending General Membership meetings at least once per quarter, serve as a conduit of information from the Board of Directors to their assigned area and vice versa. Using the Board-approved template, trustees may collect email addresses and phone numbers of residents in their area and other NH residents known to the Trustee. This information will be used to keep the neighbors informed on issues of concern to the community and to encourage membership. They may also recruit “Block Captains” to help with these duties.

Dear Mr. W O. Aho,
Why does Lake Heights appear within the NHCC boundaries and trustee areas?
Great Question!
The Newport Hills Community Club represents an area of 2700+ households commonly known as Newport Hills. The NHCC is composed of many neighborhoods and Lake Heights is only one of the several neighborhoods within the area we embrace and serve. Over the years, NHCC expanded to include all homes in the Lake Heights area, Kimberly Park, Merchants, Pembroke Meadows and other areas between Lake Washington Blvd. and I-405.
Thank for visiting the NHCC blog and reaching out to communicate with us. As president of the NHCC, I have given your post serious consideration, collaborated w/ the NHCC and discussed this with our blog coordinator at NHCC meeting this month. You are not the first person who shared such thoughts. On the other hand, there are many Lake Heights residents who appreciate and facilitate a cohesive relationship between the NHCC and Lake Heights. In fact, the current NHCC board of directors is composed of Lake Heights residents who serve as active volunteers and very much indentify themselves with the NHCC.
Here are some bullet points explaining why the NHCC includes Lake Heights inside the NHCC boundaries:
- Lake Height’s has been part of the Newport Hills Community Club (NHCC) “boundaries” for at least 10 years, perhaps longer if we researched the NHCC history files.
- NHCC has been sending NHCC newsletters to Lake Height residents for many years.
- The NHCC Secretary and new Membership Chair have been Lake Heights residents for several years.
- NHCC volunteers have been driving the Santa Tour and food drive through Lake Heights for many years.
- Lake Heights Community Club donated $75 towards the Santa Tour in 2009
- Lake Heights Presidents invited NHCC Presidents to come speak at their yearly meeting to entice cohesiveness and to provide information on what is happening in Newport Hills as many of our resources (parks, shopping center, schools) are used together.
- Many Lake Height’s residents support and attend the annual NHCC events: Spring Egg Hunt, 4th of July, Santa Tour, Holiday Bazaar, Community Faire and participated in the neighborhood garage sale and pickup.
- NHCC & LHCC partnered together, served on a panel together for two years with the City of Bellevue to neighborhood Identification project.
- For the past two years, NH residents & LH residents have been serving on an Art Panel with the city of Bellevue so we may .
- Lake Height’s residents attend many of our informational meetings such as the ones surrounding Pallis Properties, Shopping Center readout, Detective Chinn, etc.
- We share resources/facilities: NHSTC; Lake Heights Elementary;YMCA; Parks; 119th
; Shopping Center; Medical Offices, etc.
- The old elementary school that the Y now resides in used to be called Newport Heights Elementary. We have been closely tied neighborhoods for a long time.
I hope this helps address your concerns regarding the NHCC trustee areas. On behalf of the NHCC BOD, please feel free to us join us at our monthly meetings and the FUN community events. If you would like to contact me directly simply go the NHCC blog and email me @ president@newporthillscommunityclub.org .
Kind regards,
Lisa Viereck
NHCC President

By the way, I volunteered for and was voted in as the trustee for Areas 9 & 10 (Newporter Apts & the townhomes) at the Fall meeting where voting took place. Can that be corrected here? I hope I have not missed out on information that I should have been receiving and passing on to residents in my assigned areas. Thank you.

Surely there was a nicer way of pointing out what is likely an honest mistake and requesting that it be corrected. Is this how the LHCC wants to be represented?

I note that Area 25, aka Lake Heights Community Club, is considered a part of the Newport Hills Community Club. For your information, IT IS NOT! Correct your map ASAP.

I wonder if you can provide a description of what is involved in the open Land Use and Community Appearance position. Interestingly that is also my concern. I have some neighbors who have really let go of their yards so much so that its becoming an eyesore to the surrounding neighbors. What options are open to others around blighted yards to have these areas cleaned up??? Thank you
