Heidi, thank you very much for your input. It’s very greatly appreciated. I will check these places out.
I am looking for preschools and would welcome any more information that others might have.
Thanks again,
Ronda

Hi Ronda:
I wasn’t sure if you were requiring a daycare/preschool program but here’s my input:
This year Newport Heights Elementary added a preschool program to their curriculum but I don’t know much about it. You can contact the school for information at 425-456-5500.
My son (who is 9 1/2) attended two fantastic preschool programs in the area. The first was part of Bellevue College’s co-op preschool program:
http://bellevuecollege.edu/health/parented/classes/preschool/. We drove across town to attend the BOCP preschool (the Eastgate co-op was full when we registered) and we stayed because of the fabulous people we met. My son did both the 3′s and 4′s programs and I can’t speak highly enough of the curriculum.
At the end of the 4′s program my son wasn’t socially ready for kindergarten so we decided to do another year of pre-K. We enrolled him at the Newport Covenant Church’s program and again had a wonderful experience. Many of my son’s classmates also attended that preschool and everyone I know was pleased with it.

I believe there is also another fabulous preschool program in a church on the hill next to the southbound Coal Creek offramp but I don’t know the name of it.
I hope this helps.

Hi. My husband, two year old son and I are in the process of buying a house in NH on 53rd. Hopefully all will work out and we’ll move there soon. I was hoping someone could tell me about the preschools nearby. It looks like there’s one at the Lake Heights YMCA, but I have no idea of the quality or anything about it. If anyone has experience with that I’d love to know. I’ve heard mixed reviews on Newport Children’s School, but if anyone has current knowledge I’d love to know about that too. I’m looking for a place that isn’t just custodial care, and focuses on learning and creativity with some preparation for kindergarten.
Thank you in advance. Any info will be helpful.
Kindest regards,
Ronda

Hi Justin. I saw your request for information on the Seattle Times site but I wasn’t able to respond. If you contact me at technogeekswife@yahoo.com I can fill you in on Newport Heights Elementary.

hi, i stumbled upon your site while searching for reviews for Newport Heights Elementary. we’re considering a move to the neighborhood and wanted some firsthand opinions about NHE. the reviews on greatschools.org are all at least 5 years old. test-score-wise it doesn’t seem to keep up with Somerset and Courgar Ridge. but how are the teachers? the parent involvement? the administration? is the school improving or on the decline?
thanks.

Hi Maria,
Yes – Eastside Catholic moved on to their new campus after last school year. The Bellevue School District owns this property and they are renovating it so that Tyee Elementary can move in this fall. While Tyee is here in this facility, the school district will be rebuilding the Tyee school. So in about 2 years – I think – the Tyee students will return to their original and new school building. I think the school district plans to do this same thing for several other schools in their district as well. Thanks, Michelle

What is going on at the old Eastside Catholic campus on 60th? Looks like it is being remodeled. Thanks.
