I am just writing to let you know that there was a car prowl July 24 at the trail head that is at the top of the hill on SE 60th ST near 129th Ave SE. See the following link: http://goo.gl/maps/UbdFg . The car was parked there while the owner was hiking the trail. It occurred around 5:45pm in broad daylight while lots of people were driving by on their way home from work. The burglar broke the car’s window.
This is not the first time that a car has been broken into in that manner at that location. Other lesser crimes occur there frequently. I know people who have seen teenagers having sex in a car parked there and I have found used condoms laying in the parking area more than once. In the summer there are almost always homeless people camped in the woods. Those who I have encountered have been either very drunk, very high or both. I have given up notifying the parks department about such offences because once they remove one person another shows up to camp in the same spot right away.
Anyway, that location seems to be a bit of a hot spot because of its seclusion and because burglars know that those who park there will likely be gone for a while. Perhaps you could ask your readers to keep an eye on that parking area when they drive by and report any suspicious activity. Also, if they happen to have seen anything suspicious while driving by on June 24, they should report it to the police.
